ILM, one of the airports in North Carolina and which has been growing now in leaps and bounds to hold a place as the fourth largest airport in the state, has some good news to holiday goers. A seasonal route has been designed to cater for the large numbers anticipated to crisscross America during the fourth coming Christmas festivities. But ILM is not new to being sensitive to the market and making necessary adjustments to meet the demands of the travelers. This is what has propelled it from a small airfield first named Bluethenthal Field to getting international status, rebranding to Wilmington International Airport or ILM in IATA codes.

Wilmington City

North Carolina and Wilmington City, in particular, can only be described as a hidden jewel due to the convergence of attractions. The Season

This route is special in a way and no doubt is received well for it is the only direct route so far from ILM into Central Time Zone. From December 23, Dallas, Texas becomes closer to Wilmington as that’s where the seasonal flights will operate all the way until January 7, a very crucial period every year, characterized by jammed airports and fully booked hotels due to the rush of holiday loving people. It is expected the flight will make it easier to connect to other destinations beyond Dallas like Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle all which are known to attract a lot of holiday goers.

American Airlines

The flights will be courtesy of American Airlines and bookings opened on September 22. ILM moves around 50000 travelers monthly but the figures shoot to around 62000 during December holidays.  While thanking American Airlines for its partnership with ILM and now for the timely direct flight between DFW and ILM, Wilsey, the Airport Director expressed her optimism as noted in her speech “Our Community has expressed a strong desire to have a non-stop service between ILM and DFW and we are thankful our partners at American Airlines are offering this seasonal non-stop holiday service” (Source: Wilmingtonbiz.com)
